In a different situation yesterday I got an error that the connection string was invalid and I noticed no ACE driver was installed and I installed this to get that working again. After installing the "Microsoft Access Database Engine Redistributable" i was able to connect via We tried connecting to Access using Microsoft. However, during endurance we noticed that after a certain number of connections sequential , the code hanged hanged, no exception at the line where we open a new connection.

At any given time, we open only one connection and ensure that all previous connects are closed properly. There seems to be some incompatibility between Access and Oledb 12 provider which gets exposed when you open up multiple connections one after the other.

I think such edge cases get little or no testing and since they rarely happen in real-world situations MSFT would not prioritize them to get fixed. I remember a situation a while back where a developer would open thousands of forms and get Access to crash. If it hurts, don't do it. In your case you would try to re-use connections as much as possible. Details required : characters remaining Cancel Submit. As a workaround I upgraded my provider from Microsoft.

I noticed that on the machine with Access , where I installed runtime as well so that I could use Oledb 15, Access started to crash as an application.
